I really enjoy his blog also. I saw the movie and enjoyed it much more than I expected to. I first read TLTWATW in 1955 at age ten - coming across it as serendipitously as Lucy came upon the wardrobe.

Keep up your posting. It's refreshing to read you. Some of them are dangnammit evil, too, never mind how prevalent they might be in the respective cultures. In Israel it's a tendency to speak your mind, regardless of emotional consequence or worth. (e.g., "Shara, that is a horrible dress you are wearing.") In London a nice, sunny warm Saturday causes the pubs to be packed, and i mean literally packed ("Yes, because they can open the front of the pub on nice days!"). In America people rarely speak their mind to an individual, but usually do so to others. ("Does anyone else notice that Donald works too slowly?") None of these behaviors are socially healthy, but they're all widespread (imnsho).

Whenever i've discussed these type behavorial problems i generally get a response something like,
"Yes, yes, but almost everyone acts that way. So, what to do?"

To which i reply,
"The same could've once been said of child humansacrifice, and there's plenty to do about it."

One of the biggest evils comes from the tongue, but indifference is way, way down there too in the pit.

rob@egoz.orgAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
