Nice debate we're having. It's reminiscient of the first debate I had at The Last Debate. Does "F@$K You" ring a bell Andy?

Good times! That still makes me laugh! Their reception was a little more cordial!

I remember clearly, because you showed up out of nowhere on my blog archives and commented, "Our problem with homosexuality is that it has no definition other than a sexual relationship between two people of the same sex."

I found this comment baffling and rude. If homosexuality is exclusively defined by sexual activity, am I not gay right now since I'm not having sex with anyone? However, it does appear to me that your views have been moderated and refined somewhat since we started our e-friendship, and at the time of my initial response to you, I figured you were some freaked out old crazy-ass bigot; I didn't know you were just a teenager. So I have forgiven your insensitivities because your opinions are still forming, and I hope I can play some part in shaping them.

There are of course inherent rational fault lines between you and I as I believe homosexuality is immoral and you are a homosexual...to some degree we gravitate rationally toward that which serves us most personally. Of course, we both have a horse in this race I suppose, as I am Catholic and you are homosexual.

What that "rude" comment was based on is the cliche "gay pride is anal sex pride" in which I still find a great deal of logic. If you can write a post enlightening me on this, I will link to it (which actually means something now that I have some decent traffic).

Do I dare point out that homosexuality and Catholicism are not mutually exclusive?

I suspect it wasn't your intention, but the way you wrote it suggests homosexuality may be considered a religion and/or Catholicism is some sort of sexual preference. I'm not sure which is worse ...

l-c: I composed some thoughts on this, but then realised that to post them here would be disrespectful to Andy and the fact that this is HIS blog, due to their length. Feel free to read them on mine under the title, "Sexuality, Pride and Faith, in Brief".

Catholicism recognizes homosexuality as immoral. That is all!

This sentence simply states that, being part of a religion that labels sodomy illegal, I have a horse in this race as well as Andy, though Andy's horse is much larger than mine (no phallic meaning intended, I just have no better way of saying this!)
