That might be the worst Christmas Tree stand I've ever seen! I don't blame the cats, I blame the stand for only providing 2 inches of support around the base of the tree. You can probably find a better stand at a thrift store- try one around Christmas time.
I loved this! Your pictures were so cute. I always enjoy your pictures.
Speaking of pictures, it's interesting that your pictures are now properly displayed in Bloglines, whereas before your "testing" post, they only showed up as a shutter icon.
Merry Christmas, Andy. Promise us that if you move in 2007, you won't stop blogging! We happen to be pretty keen on Portland, too.
LC, if you're going to say something less than positive, especially about such a happy blog entry, it would behoove you to at LEAST wait until a few other people have commented so it's not the first thing the rest of us have to read. That was kind of an unneccesary downer at Christmastime.
Andy, beautiful tree. ("At least you'll always have the memories" ; ). ) Cute kitties too : ).
Oh, come on now! Just because I didn't riddle the comment with emoticons you can't take it as a joke? I know my sense of humor isn't appreciated here, but even with all joking aside I don't see how a ridiculous criticism of a Christmas tree stand is so hard to bear.
By the way, Merry Christmas kr. If you, as a mother, have anything to say about Santa Claus, I'll be happy to post it (just send it to me today, or I won't get it as I will be on vacation tommorrow).
By the way, I would like you to know that every time I saw a good tree stand in the stores this holiday season, I thought of you, Andy. Unfortunately, sending one to you would have been difficult.
All engineering aside, It is a beautifully decorated tree. I do my tree with red and gold beads and speckle it with silver and red bulbs. It looks like you have some family heirlooms on there. I like the candles as well.
LC: thanks for the offer, but as this was an artificial tree, the "stand" was actually part of the structure, the legs were inserted into the base (trunk?) of the tree, and that's what snapped. I don't think a regular stand meant for a real tree would have worked.
Actually, I have one about your size downstairs- we always use one for that. It's a sight to behold- perhaps thirty years old- got it from my grandma. At the center is a bare wooden pole around which we strap giant green pipe cleaners to cover it, and into which we poke "branches" of twisted wire with plastic needles poking out. Of course, just as with the Charlie Brown tree, all it needs is a little TLC- let's just say you can never over-decorate a Christmas Tree. Ah, good times. We still put up the homemade ornaments and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ornaments.

By the way, Merry Christmas to you and your mother. May your days be merry and bright because I know this Christmas won't be white.

despite the best plans, cats seems to always find the weakness.
right now, i'm attempting to keep them from two chinchillas i'm babysitting for 10 days.
luckily, i have a spare room, and now the door has a gate latch near the top where you know who cant reach it.
