McCain Courts the Gay Vote

The sad thing is, the production values here far outstrip the original.

Well, the Weather Girls video is over a quarter century old. So give them a break. :P

The extant Weather Girl, Martha Wash, performed at last year's LIGALY Mardi Gras party. In fact, Ms. Wash was kind enough to pose for photos after the party. You can see one of her and my better half here. So yes, the McCain spoof may have better production values, but the original is closer to my heart. :)

I think the girl on the right was just pulled in off the street so that there could be three "McCain Girls." I mean, she seems to be crackin up the whole time (how unprofessional!).

Wow... I can't decide if that was a spoof produced for SNL, or if it was really just born out of extreme dedication to McCain.

That hurt my head.

Jade: actually, yeah, there is great debate on the Internets about whether this is a spoof or not.

'Fess up: you haven't watched the whole video.

I know you haven't, because my untrained, pedestrian ears were begging me puncture my eardrums just to make it stop. There's no way you got all the way through that.

Actually, no, I did in fact labor through the entire thing. I swear! I wanted to know if there was some giveaway at the end to let me know this was a spoof. Alas, it was completely satisfactory all the way 'round.

I watched the whole thing just in case they did a medley and moved on to "Umbrella."

Ow, ow, ow. Both my gay and my musical sensibilities were seriously injured. That video may actually cost him vote. Which, of course, might give it some merit after all.

Update: Yeah, apparently this is for reals. The lead "McCain Girl" put out a video statement complaining about some of the comments the piece has received on YouTube. I guess they were serious, after all.

Wow. They just took mediocrity to a whole new level.
