Let There Be Cable

It is done.

After months of hemming and hawing, I finally called up TimeWarner and placed the order. My cable/RoadRunner package will be installed this Saturday.

I am very indecisive and lazy about a lot of things. At work I'm focused, organized and efficient. At home, I'm a disaster. Seriously. I just couldn't get my butt in gear. Plus, among other phobias, I'm mildly afraid of commitment and I don't like having strangers in my apartment. (And I wonder why I'm single? Oh yeah, I'm also fat.)

So what motivated me? This email from AOL:

WARNING: THE USE OF SOME OF THE FOLLOWING TELEPHONE NUMBERS MAY RESULT IN LONG DISTANCE CHARGES. IN SELECTING YOUR ACCESS NUMBER(S), PLEASE NOTE THAT ALTHOUGH AN ACCESS NUMBER MAY BE IN YOUR AREA CODE OR LOCATED IN YOUR GENERAL GEOGRAPHIC REGION, IT MAY NOT NECESSARILY BE A LOCAL NUMBER FOR YOU. YOU MAY INCUR SUBSTANTIAL TELEPHONE CHARGES IF YOU CHOOSE ACCESS NUMBERS THAT ARE NOT COVERED BY YOUR LOCAL CALLING PLAN.

Nice, right?

Anyway, I'm all excited. Now I get Jeff Corwin, Jon Stewart and Anderson Cooper all in the privacy of my home.

Were you using a 212 / 646 dial-in number?

You probably would have been safe; but it was the kick in the pants you need, then mazel tov!

Holy crap, cable modem installation? Jeez, welcome to the 90's man! Now all that free music and porn from Kazaa will download faster than a Kennedy running from a car accident.

Congrats. I'm jealous.

First, I agree with Jere. You are NOT fat!

Second, maybe the cable guy will be a good catch. This could be a home run. :-)

Lastly, enjoy the high-speed access. It's great for porn (or so I hear). ;-)

Congratulations, and welcome to the real internet. I've had RoadRunner for three years now, and love it. (Sidenote: I don't comment much, but visit here often. We're on opposite sides of the religion issue, but I respect and enjoy your insight.)

I notice you haven't replied to my privacy comments on either post. Bock bock bock (those are supposed to be chicken sounds, as in my calling you a coward)
