I heard on the radio this morning what he was supposed to have said, according to the script, and it was not what came out of his mouth. If he had actually gotten through the sentence correctly, it was obviously an intended slam on Bush, and not the troops.
Exactly, I would ask "Who's side is he on?" if I didn't already know (skull and bones). I mean I wouldn't believe in conspiracies if they didn't make far more sense than the simpler explanations that they're just fucking stupid. [Occam's razor and all that.]

i think the dnc, and the nation, would be better served if they returned to the days of the closed-door brokered convention.

I would rather have him around. He makes the other side of whatever argument he is against look good.
