Rocky has developed this odd habit of sitting on the back of the recliner and resting one paw on the lampshade. He finds that very comfortable, apparently.

I think he's trying to tell you that your lighting choices are not to his liking and that he will continue to adjust the lampshade until the illumination of your living room is to his liking.
Cats can be so passive aggressive!
He'll be a Kitler as soon as he his puberty and the 'stache grows in.
Well, unfortunately, since I've already turned him into a cat-strato, I don't think there will ever be a mustache.
Perhaps he's trying to provide you more flattering lighting? Our cats can't be self-centered all the time. (He's a cutie, btw.)
