The Onion has actually become less funny over the time, not because of a drop in quality from the publication itself, but because "reality" has started producing Onion-esque headlines of its own.
I think one of the best headlines they ever had was last fall...something about "Hollywood Action Star Elected Governor of California." Then there was the eerily prescient article from January 2001 about Bush's plans. Unfortunately The Onion's archives now require membership.
Tin Man: did you mean you found it plausible that some people would accept Intelligent Falling or that some people would believe the article? 'Cuz...never mind.
