I am Officially Old

This is not about being 31. This is about me being in pain because somehow I threw my back out yesterday. (No, boys, it wasn't like that.) Perhaps I was too enthusiastic in bhujungasana?

I mean, I'm mobile, not paralyzed, but I am kind of walking funny because I have this sharp pain on the lower right side of my spine. Argh. I guess it's all downhill from here. Just put me in the home now.

The beach was fun! A tad windier than usual and maybe not quite hot enough to be ideal, but a great day nonetheless. The ocean was calm and "warm" enough (that's a very relative term, but I'm from Oregon, where you need fur and blubber to survive in the water) to go swimming. It was extremely refreshing.

There was a bit of what I will call a Middle Earth problem yesterday, though. And that would be that the beach was crawling with all manner of orcs and trolls. Not your ordinary trolls, however, no, not the ones that turn into stone at the first sign of daylight. No, these were big, scary, hairy Mordor trolls who can walk abroad under the open sun.

Nah. You're not old. A back injury doesn't make one as young and fit as you become old.

Feel better soon, cutie. :)

Get thee to a chiropractor (the good doctor can refer you)... or fly to Venice and get a Thai massage from Luigi. I can vouch for both...

I found repeated applications of Deep Heat - if you don't have that in the States, it's a cream which acts on muscular aches and pains - did me a power of good when I did my back in. Pace your mother!

I guess even trolls like to come out from under the bridge to feast on pretty beach boys occasionally.

Suggestions re: your back ...
1. Stretching exercises (lay flat on the floor, bend your knee and raise towards your chest as high as you can, singly and together), 2. Have a long soak in a hot bath or jacuzzi tub.
3. Beer
4. More beer.

Joel ol' buddy, you and I are cut from the same cloth.

I spent the day on my back in bed with my legs elevated. That's quite comfortable, and I'm now very caught up on sleep. : ) After doing that for a couple of hours I was able to get up and walk around just fine. But I can't sit for very long.

Yeah, I guess I could go find some medicated cream or something, but as it's July 4, I'd have to travel pretty far to find someplace that's open. However, beer is readily available.

Hope you feel better. I know what youre going through. I have back problems a couple times a year. All I recommend is to stretch, and 800mg of Ibuprofen.

Better a public holiday than riots to prevent you from getting medication ...

Glad to hear you're on the mend though!
