Operation Get Me Out of Finance 2: The Follow-Up

I think the second interview went very, very well! I feel good about it. (Though I think my reference to Austin Powers maybe sailed right over her head.)

They said they would let me know by the end of the week!

PS -- I sent a thank you after the first interview; should I do the same this time as well or is that overkill?

I would send a short note saying "Thanks again..." just to end everything up on the perfect note.

I agree with JF (is JF your Mom - if so, you have a fantastic son!). I would also send a short note. My PhD supervisor always said that there should be no shortage of "thank you's" ...

BTW - Congrats on the interview... YAY! :) I am doing the Mambo as I type

I would be inclined to say send the 2nd note, but having been there, I know that those blasted things are very hard to write well.

Did they tell you when they would make a decision?

I'm never sure about the value of those thank you notes. As someone who has been on the other side of the desk plenty of times, I don't think such pleasantries have ever swayed me.

Now, being in the same position you're in (I had a second interview today for a job I want), I'm not sure myself. I don't want to seem rude, but I don't think this guy is waiting around for a note. Just not sure.

Well, it couldn't really hurt, could it? It will just say Thanks for meeting with me blah blah blah. I have classy stationery and nice handwriting, so I think it will help. Just wanted to know if anyone thought it sounded super desperate.

I can't imagine it doing any harm, couched in the right terms - just don't go OTT, keep it short and simple.

Glad it went well!

Yes, Richie, I am Andy's mom and although he advises me regularly not to do so, I often leave comments on his blog saying how cool he is... I love him to death.

Andy, all I had in mind was the most brief of thank you notes for this second interview because you did send a thank you to the people who interviewed you the first time and you should do the same for the person who interviewed you today.

The good advice has been covered.. I agree with it all. The inside of my right index finger and top of my right middle finger are bruised from all this finger crossing.
